FARMING FOR THE FUTURE: MATCHING GIFT CHALLENGE

FARMING FOR THE FUTURE: Help us build a resilient, healthy and fair farming future

Amazing news! Until the end of this year, all donations to OANZ will be DOUBLED, thanks to our generous supporter and philanthropist Gary Hershberg, Hershberg Institute.

In New Zealand, nearly half of our national greenhouse gas emissions come from agriculture. The way we farm can make or break the health of our atmosphere. Organic farming can help tackle climate change, reduce emissions, store carbon and build resilience, all whilst feeding our people healthy food. Can you help us accelerate Aotearoa's transition to a climate-friendly farming future?

Donate to Organics Aotearoa New Zealand and see your gift doubled, dollar-for-dollar, up to $60,000!

In June this year, we announced that OANZ is seeking to raise $120,000 this year as the co-investment required for the Sustainable Food & Fibres Future fund. Access to this fund will enable OANZ to work with the government to deliver a national organic standard that will further legitimise organics as the future of farming in NZ and ultimately grow the Organic Sector.

A generous supporter, Gary Hirshberg, Hirshberg Institute is offering to match donations to OANZ up to $60,000 annually for three years. Meaning your gift will double its impact and go twice as far. If we can raise $60,000 before the end of 2023, it will turn into the $120,000 financial commitment needed for our Sustainable Food & Fibres Future fund application, allowing us to access the funds needed to kickstart the organic growth plan (more on this below).

Please consider a gift donation to support our transition to a resilient, healthy and fair farming future.  Poipoia Te Kākano Kia Puawai - Nurture The Seed, And It Will Blossom.

THANK YOU!

So far, we have raised 80% of our fundraising goal. Do you believe in an organic Aotearoa? Help us reach our $120k target by donating today.?

OANZ is raising funds to help implement the new Organic Products and Production Act and accelerate the transition to organic food and farming systems in New Zealand.

This funding will allow OANZ to implement the sector's organic growth plan, which aims to:

  1. Increase domestic & international demand for certified organic NZ products; launch the New Zealand Certified Organic mark.

  2. Increase the supply of organic products into local & international markets by increasing the number of certified organic producers/processors in NZ, including Māori producers; create a pan-sector extension programme that integrates with industry stakeholders, local & regional catchment initiatives, and regenerative agriculture programmes.

  3. Increase the number of qualified organic auditors.

  4. Reduce data compliance requirements for organic producers and processors, and develop better uses for data for research & compliance purposes.

  5. Drive innovation within the organic sector by identifying the research and development required to improve performance and support conversion; increase investment in targeted agritech research.

Your donation will help us unlock government funding and ultimately help us kick these projects into action this year.
