A Christmas Message from Organics Aotearoa New Zealand

As the year draws to a close, we want to pause and say thank you to everyone who has walked alongside OANZ in what has been an extraordinary year for the organic sector.

This Christmas also marks an important moment of transition. After more than six years with OANZ, Tiffany Tompkins is stepping back from her role as CEO. Tiffany has been central to the growth and transformation of OANZ, bringing professionalism, deep sector knowledge, and tireless commitment to strengthening organics in Aotearoa. Her leadership has left a lasting mark, and we are deeply grateful for everything she has given. We wish her well as she takes time to breathe and consider what comes next.

To our community, thank you for being there. To our Board, members, donors, supporters, and volunteers, and to everyone who has engaged with our work this year, your support has made it possible for a small organisation to take on big challenges.

2025 has been a big year. The Organic Products and Production Act is progressing through the stages of coming into being and has remained at the forefront of our activity. We released the Organic Market Report, which showed sector growth to $1.18 billion, and completed future-focused work to strengthen OANZ as the national organic sector body.

And of course, the Gene Tech Bill. One of our main goals for 2025 was to halt the 2nd reading of this Bill. While the campaign is not finished, reaching this milestone is a significant achievement for OANZ, the organic community, and beyond. We’re confident that our clear, focused, and factual engagement with Wellington decision-makers has been effective, and this is something we’ve achieved together.

As the year draws to a close, we wish you time to rest, reconnect, and enjoy the summer.

From all of us at Organics Aotearoa New Zealand, we wish you a safe, joyful Christmas and a fruitful New Year.
