The Buzz, April 23 Edition

Hello, and welcome to the April edition of The BUZZ, your monthly dose of news from the Organic Sector.

In March, we celebrated the passing of the Organic Products and Production Bill. We are delighted to finally see organics recognised in law after decades of advocacy from many in the Organic Sector. I want to thank all involved, including Minister O'Connor, previous OANZ Chair Doug Voss, Brendan Hoare and many more.

Consumers will finally feel confident that organic products have met national standards, and trade opportunities will open up, growing the value of Aotearoa's Organic Sector and incentivising climate-friendly farming. Organic Agriculture has the potential to transform Aotearoa New Zealand, into a truly regenerative, ethical, animal-friendly and high-value agricultural sector, one that's good for our people and planet.

OANZ will continue to work with the Ministry of Primary Industries on the regulations that underpin the Act, including a national organic standard and the development of the much-needed organic farmer extension programme. Please support our work as we accelerate the transition to organic regenerative food and farming systems.

Ngā mihi
