Our year in organics: 2025 Impact Report

It’s been a landmark year for OANZ. Our 2024/25 Impact Report captures the progress, achievements, and challenges of the past year, highlighting how our work is driving systemic change in Aotearoa New Zealand’s food and farming sector.

This year, our advocacy stepped into high gear. We led the GE-Free Future campaign, mobilising thousands of submissions against the Gene Technology Bill, taking the voices of farmers and consumers to Parliament, and engaging with senior politicians and officials across six delegations in Wellington. These efforts placed organics at the centre of national debate, highlighting its role in protecting the environment and strengthening our economy.

OANZ delivered the 2025 Organic Market Report, the first update since 2021, providing policymakers, industry, and consumers with credible, up-to-date insights to support the growth and recognition of organics in New Zealand.

We also confronted the need to future-proof our sector body. With support from the Government’s Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures (SFFF) Fund, we’ve developed a plan to create a sustainable, self-funded organisation capable of leading, advocating, and resourcing the sector for decades to come.

OANZ’s work is about more than organics alone. We advocate on behalf of our climate, biodiversity and economic resilience. None of this would be possible without the support of our members, donors, and stakeholders.

The 2024/25 Impact Report presents a comprehensive overview of this year’s achievements. Please read it, reflect on what we’ve accomplished together, and help us shape the next chapter for organics in Aotearoa New Zealand.
