The head of a global community worth US$60 billion and growing will be visiting New Zealand between June 15 and 17. Queensland tropical fruit grower and horticulturalist Andre Leu is the President of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements, a global confederation of over 700 organic organisations from 115 countries.

His first New Zealand engagement is speaking at a social function for Auckland organic business and market leaders on the evening of Sunday June 15, organised by Organics Aotearoa New Zealand.

The venue is the just-opened (still to be officially launched) Auckland HQ of Peru Cafe - a 100% Organic and Fairtrade coffee company - at 31 Sales St, Auckland CBD.  Coffee from its New Plymouth roastery was the supreme award winner at the 2013 NZ Coffee Awards, and Peru Cafe is looking forward to introducing its recently re-launched Inca-fe brand to the Auckland market.

Peru Cafe Business Development Manager Nigel Windelburn says Peru Cafe is delighted to host Andre Leu at the new premises and hear what he has to say on the global growth of organic markets.

OANZ Chair Brendan Hoare will be introducing Mr Leu at the event, and talking about the opportunities for New Zealand to participate in this growth.

On Monday June 16 Andre Leu will be speaking at a business lunch in Auckland, and is also available for media interviews.
On Tuesday June 17 he will be in Wellington taking part in talks with Ministry of Primary Industries and Food Safety officials on regulating the use of the term organic, and also giving an early evening briefing to representatives of farming, growing, environmental and sustainability organisations on 'Mitigating climate change and enhancing biodiversity - how ecologically sound farming practices are helping'.
